Gut Healthy Sorbet

Pineapple + Mint: One pineapple + 3 mint leaves, pureed and frozen
Pineapple and mint are a gut-loving duo that support digestion in different but complementary ways. Pineapple contains bromelain, a natural digestive enzyme that helps break down protein, reduce bloating, and calm inflammation in the gut lining. It also has prebiotic fiber to feed good gut bacteria. Mint, on the other hand, relaxes the muscles of the digestive tract, which can ease gas, cramping, and symptoms of indigestion. Together, they promote smoother digestion, reduce discomfort, and create a refreshing, functional combo that supports overall gut health.
Papaya + Raspberry: 1 small papaya + 1/2 raspberries, pureed and frozen
Papaya and raspberries are a powerful combo for gut health. Papaya contains papain, a natural enzyme that aids in breaking down proteins and easing digestion, especially after meals. It’s also rich in fiber and water, which help prevent constipation and support regularity. Raspberries are packed with soluble fiber and antioxidants, which feed beneficial gut bacteria, reduce inflammation, and support the gut lining. Together, they help keep your digestion smooth, your microbiome nourished, and your gut inflammation in check—making them an ideal pair for a healthy, happy gut.
Passion Fruit + Peach: 4 Passion fruit + 1 C peaches (fresh or frozen) pureed and frozen
Passion fruit and peach are a delicious and gut-friendly pair that offer both fiber and anti-inflammatory benefits. Passion fruit is rich in soluble fiber and natural enzymes that help support digestion, feed healthy gut bacteria, and promote regularity. It also contains polyphenols that support a balanced microbiome. Peaches, especially with the skin on, provide gentle fiber and natural compounds that soothe the digestive tract and reduce inflammation. Together, they support smoother digestion, ease bloating, and deliver antioxidants that help maintain a healthy gut lining.
Lemon + Ginger: 1 can full fat coconut cream, 2 tbsp pure maple syrup, 1 tsp fresh grated ginger, zest of 2 lemons and 1 tbsp lemon juice (for a more custard like texture you can add 1 1/2 tsp agar agar powder or grass fed gelatin) – If using agar agar you will have to simmer all the ingredients for 3-5 minutes until the agar i completely dissolved. Then pour into lemons and freeze.
Lemon and ginger are a classic gut-healing duo. Lemon stimulates digestive enzymes and bile production, which helps break down food more efficiently and supports liver detox—key for overall digestive health. It also provides vitamin C, which helps reduce inflammation in the gut lining. Ginger has natural anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic properties, making it effective for easing nausea, bloating, and cramps. It also helps food move more smoothly through the digestive tract. Together, lemon and ginger promote smoother digestion, reduce discomfort, and support a healthy, balanced gut environment.
For the fruit rinds: I cored all the fruits. Froze them individually in the freezer. You can wrap them in aluminum foil or put them in a freezer bag. Then after the sorbets were frozen I whipped them in my Ninja creami before serving the sorbet in the fruit rinds.
