Homemade Vegan Vitamin C Gummies

Vitamin C is really great for two things! The first, reducing cortisol levels and stress. The second, aiding and strengthening your immune system.

Moms I hear you! We’re all desperate to boost our childrens immune systems to reduce the amount of times they get sick (and you get sick from them 😅) Besides the basics, hand washing, getting enough sleep, exercising and eating a balanced diet the only other thing we can offer is supplementation. Vitamin C helps the neutrophils in your immune system react to an invader and kill it faster. This is very important for viruses which are the main cause of illness in children. While vitamin C can’t protect against a cold it can shorten it!
Ingredients:
1 Vitamin C drop (please follow dosing on the brand you use for children or adults)
1 1/2 C Juiced oranges or pre squeezed OJ
2 tbsp Honey (optional)
2 tsp Agar (this is a vegan version of gelatin. You could also use gelatin)
Directions:
1. Place your mold on a cookie sheet so it’s sturdy
2. In a small saucepan, add the juice, honey and agar. Bring to a boil. Boil for 1 minute and remove from the heat. Pour the mixture into a new bowl so it cools quickly. Let the mixture cool for 5-10 minutes. It should still be a liquid but significantly cooler. Hot liquid will kill the vitamin C.
3. Add the vitamin C dose appropriate for the child or adult you’re making the gummies for to each well of the mold. 1 gummy = 1 dose. If the mold you’re using has very small wells split up the dose into 1/2 or 1/4 just keep track of how much you’re using. *note* gummy bear size doesn’t work well for this I suggest something bigger like the gem shape I’m using.
4. Using a dropper fill the molds, stir with a toothpick. When finished transfer the tray to the refrigerate and let harden for about 15 minutes
5. Once the gummies are hardened remove them from the mold and store them in an air tight container in the in a cool dry area or if you live a humid climate in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
**Please note you must follow the dosing guide on the specific supplement vitamin C that you purchased. I will link the one I used and the gummy trays but it’s very important that this step isn’t missed.
