Cinnamon Sugar Vegan Donuts

As a food allergy mom I sometimes sacrifice a little sugar in exchange for my son to feel included. In the notes I have substitute options for the sugar. These donuts are free from 8 of top 9 allergens and they taste like a mix between a moist cake and a crumble donut.

Ingredients:
1 C Flour
1/2 C Brown sugar (or coconut sugar)
1 tsp Baking powder
1/4 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Cinnamon
1/2 C Oat milk (or milk of your choice)
1 tbsp Applesauce
1 tbsp Oil (melted coconut or avocado oil seem to work best but you could also use light olive oil)

For topping:
Mix 1/3 C brown sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon

Directions: Makes 6 donuts
1. Preheat oven to 350F.
2. Mix all the donut ingredients until a thick pasta is formed
3. Spoon the batter into the pan and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar topping on top. *note when the donuts expand they grow and any area not covered with the topping will show. So I heavily coated them.
4. Bake for 20 minutes and let them cook for 10-15 minutes before removing them from the pan
